Transforming Decision-Making Through AI: Avolta’s Journey to Innovation
At Avolta, Yiannis Zouroudis, Global Head of Data & Analytics, and his team embarked on a mission to transform decision-making through advanced AI technologies. Collaborating with D ONE, this three-year journey tackled numerous challenges but ultimately placed AI at the core of Avolta’s strategic roadmap. In this session, Yiannis will explore how the team built AI capabilities that now drive key business decisions, including insights derived from millions of global travelers passing through over 5,100 retail outlets. One of the highlighted successes, an Assortment Optimization ML initiative, achieved a revenue gain of 4M CHF within its first year in production. This presentation will provide an in-depth look at the building of AI capabilities within a large retail organization and the transformational power of AI in driving business outcomes.
Sean Hackett
Director of Discovery Data Science
Calico Life Sciences LLC
Aging as a data science problem
At Calico, an Alphabet company, Sean Hackett and his team are advancing the understanding of how aging drives disease. Because most common diseases become more prevalent with age, slowing the aging process could lower the incidence of disease helping all humans to live longer, healthier lives. Sean will discuss how his team applies data science to drug target discovery and builds data ecosystems which are suitable for exploring the root causes of aging. By integrating diverse data modalities—such as molecular, imaging, and genetic information—into models of biological mechanisms, they aim to decipher the complexity of aging. In collaboration with D ONE, they have developed information stores to harmonize gene data and leveraged knowledge graphs to frame biological questions as network queries. This session will offer insights into the innovative intersection of data science and biology aimed at tackling the complexities of aging and disease.
